A Life Insurance Short Story

I met with a couple in the summer of 2019 after the wife reached out to me regarding their needs for life insurance. The husband was one of those people that life insurance means nothing to. His belief was that life insurance is a waste of money. I met with them on 2 different occasions and even wrote applications.

Unfortunately, a day after each meeting, the husband would call me to cancel the application. The first time, he told me that he needed to think about it before moving forward.

The second time, he told me that he needed to pray about it. Since I am not a salesman by nature, I agreed with him to take his time and let me know whenever he’s ready. I remember telling him the second time though that there’s nothing to pray about because Paul of Tarsus said “Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever”. He still refused and wanted to pray about it.

Unfortunately, he got into a car wreck a few months later that left him paralyzed neck down. He died 8 months after and left his family with nothing but medical bills and funeral expenses. To bury him, his family had to create a GOFUNDME account for strangers on social media to contribute to his funeral fund. His wife and son were left empty-handed. And to think that he could have left his wife and son with $1 Million dollars of tax free money by only spending less than $60/month.
